Chef Bobby Flay

Bobby Flay has been cooking professionally for over 30 years. He is Chef/Owner of GATO in New York City, Mesa Grill at Caesar Palace in Las Vegas, Shark at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and Bobby Flay Steak at Borgata in Atlantic City. For over 20 years, Mr. Flay has had various programs on Food Network, including Iron Chef America and Beat Bobby Flay. As a proud, native New Yorker, he often notes that the "city is my kitchen," utilizing its diverse cuisines, amazing styles and infectious energy as inspiration for his restaurants. Mr. Flay dropped out of high school in 10th grade. He is a graduate of the G.E.D. program from the city of NY and was in the first graduating class of the French Culinary Institute in 1984.

He was named Rising Star Chef of the Year by the James Beard Foundation at the age 27 for his work at Mesa Grill in NYC and was inducted as a member of the Who's Who of Cooking in America by the foundation in 2007. In 2015, Bobby was the first ever chef to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The Flay household acquired a Maine Coon cat named "Nacho" who has now become the official face of Gato. In 2019, a second Maine Coon named "Stella" joined the Flay family. They have both been four-star additions to Bobby's home. Mr. Flay has a twenty-something daughter, Sophie, who does NOT want to be a chef but likes to bring lots of her friends to her dad's restaurants when she's not working as a Community Journalist for ABC7 in Los Angeles.
